Den ugandiske klimataktivisten Vanessa Nakate är aktuell med boken A Bigger Picture – My Fight to Bring a New African Voice to the Climate Crisis (Mariner Books).
I samarbete med Greenpeace har hon nu publicerat ett utdrag ur boken, med rubriken: Education for girls is essential for climate justice. Bland annat går det här att läsa:
Covid and the consequences of climate change have intensified pressures on household incomes across Africa, Latin America, and Asia. School fees, especially for girls, have become a luxury that has to be cut from the family budget. Millions of girls, as well as many boys, may never return to schools once they’ve fully reopened, and the hard-fought gains in girls’ education made in recent decades may be diluted.
Nyligen, i en intervju med Bokdjuret, meddelade Pelle Andersson på Ordfront förlag att han köpt rättigheterna till A Bigger Picture och att den ges ut på svenska senare i år, enligt plan strax innan Bokmässan som i år har klimat som ett av tre teman.
